Description

1856-S $10 AU55 PCGS. Medium S. The mintmark is positioned between the eagle's left (facing) claw and the arrow fletchings. The West Coast mint struck 68,000 eagles in 1856, most of which entered into circulation. This Choice AU example retains ample luster in the recesses and yellow- and rose-gold color overall. The devices are well-struck with softness on the stars, and marks are evenly scattered over both sides.(Registry values: N1793)
