Near-Mint 1856-S Ten Dollar
Repunched Medium S Mintmark
1856-S $10 AU58 NGC. Luster dominates the peripheries of
this lightly circulated early San Francisco eagle. The surfaces are
richly detailed and display the expected number of small to
moderate marks. Three different reverse dies are known for the
'56-S. This is the high Medium S; the other varieties are a low
Medium S and a Large S. The mintmark is lightly repunched within
the lower loop.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263S, PCGS# 8621, Greysheet# 9451)
