Description
NGC 1856-S XF 45. Large S. A rare variety of this otherwise common issue. Discovered before 1942, the Large S coins possibly represent the last of three deliveries of eagles that year. The final shipment consisted of only 2,500 coins. A bit softly struck in the centers, as usual, there are a few small abrasions scattered across both sides. Trends $625 in XF 40, $1,500 in AU 50.
