Description
PCGS 1856-S AU 50. Large S, the scarcer of the two mintmark varieties for this elusive issue. Even tougher than its 68,000 mintage would suggest, the 1856-S eagle is most often seen well worn and usually tops out in XF condition. The present example is a trifle soft on the highpoints, but retains some luster about the devices.
