Description
1857 Liberty Head Eagle, AU55
Very Scarce Issue

 1857 $10 AU55 PCGS. A relatively small mintage of 16,606 ten
dollar gold coins were struck at Philadelphia in 1857. Only about
140 coins are estimated to survive in all grades, making this a
very scarce issue, and a rarity in higher grades. Rich yellow-gold
with orange overtones for an attractive appearance. The central
devices display good detail, with some stars slightly weak, typical
of the issue. Nice luster in sheltered areas of the coin, which has
just small marks and only the slightest wear on high points. PCGS
