Description

1857 Ten Dollar, MS60
Few Seen in Mint State

1857 $10 MS60 NGC. The 1857 Liberty eagle is scarce, coming from a mintage of 16,606 pieces. Extremely Fine and AU examples are frequently available for a price, but in Mint State only a handful of coins are known. Including possible resubmissions, NGC and PCGS combined list just 10 Uncirculated representatives (7/18). Since 1993, we have handled a Mint State coin on only four occasions, just one of which occurred in the last decade. This issue is decidedly rare so well-preserved.

This MS60 coin displays lustrous fields and sharp design elements. Moderate abrasions on each side determine the grade, but the rarity of this piece outweighs the impact of the surface marks. An important opportunity for No Motto eagle collectors. Census: 3 in 60, 5 finer (7/18).(Registry values: N4719)
