Description
1857 XF 45 PCGS. A scarce and underrated date that is very difficult to locate any finer than the present specimen. This piece is softly struck on the highpoints of the design, and the yellow-gold surfaces of the coin show just a touch of light reddish patina. There are two more obvious marks on the reverse, one in the field above the eagle's head and the other in the field below the olive branch. Trends $1,100 in XF 40, $4,600 in AU 50.
