Flashy 1857-O Eagle
1857-O AU 50 NGC. Because of the very low mintage of only 5,500 pieces, third lowest among O-mint No Motto tens, the 1857-O is a fairly well known issue. While lower grade examples can usually be found for a price, AU coins are very rare with nothing known above that level. The surfaces are bright with much of the original luster remaining. The fields are semi-reflective giving the coin an added dimension of brightness. Reasonably well struck for an O-mint ten, especially in the centers, with some softness noted on the peripheral stars.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263U, PCGS# 8623, GSID# 9452)
