Description

1859 Eagle, AU53
Somewhat Scarce, Yet Affordable

1859 $10 AU53 NGC. The 1859 is a reasonably scarce date in all grades, yet it remains affordable in the lower-to-middle About Uncirculated range. In Uncirculated, this date is rare with an estimated four to six examples known. The finest known is a newly-discovered NGC MS64 that was found along with a group of other coins from this era by a dealer in western North Carolina in the Fall of 2019. This is an attractive, original coin and is especially nice for the grade with significant traces of luster, slightly reflective fields, and only a few medium-sized abrasions.
