Description

1859 Ten Dollar, AU58
Ex:
S.S. Republic

1859 $10 AU58 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. The Philadelphia Mint struck 16,013 Liberty eagles in 1859, almost all of which were dispersed into circulation. Surviving Mint State coins are rare, and high-end AU examples are also elusive. This near-Mint representative comes from the S.S. Republic shipwreck, and thus its bright yellow-gold surfaces are expected. Detail is sharp and surface abrasions are generally light. Census: 23 in 58, 8 finer (9/18).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263Z, PCGS# 8628, Greysheet# 9380)
