Description

1859 Ten Dollar, AU58
Low-Mintage No Motto Issue

1859 $10 AU58 NGC. In 1859, most gold bullion in the United States was deposited at the San Francisco Mint and coined as double eagles. Ten dollar production at Philadelphia was limited to 16,013 pieces. Unlike the 1859 three dollar, few were saved, and today the 1859 ten becomes rare as Mint State is approached. The present lot displays considerable honey-gold luster and the expected quantity of distributed moderate marks. Census: 24 in 58, 9 finer (3/24).(Registry values: N1793)
