Description
1859-S Eagle, Fine 15
About 50 to 75 Coins Survive
Rarely Seen at This Grade
1859-S $10 Fine 15 NGC. The 1859-S is historically one of
the foremost keys to the series, although repatriated coins from
foreign holdings have increased availability in recent years. This
smoothly worn Choice Fine example is somewhat a miracle of survival
and would be a splendid addition to a circulated eagle set.
Original orange-gold color graces both sides. Most abrasions are
mellowed by a long stint in circulation, although we note a short
mark on the reverse beneath F in OF. NGC Census: 2 in 15, 36 finer
