Surprising 1859-S Eagle
Uncirculated Details
1859-S $10 --Improperly Cleaned--NGC. Unc Details. Neither
NGC nor PCGS has certified a Mint State example of the 1859-S eagle
(10/09), yet as this representative proves, the issue (original
mintage 7,000 pieces) does exist with Uncirculated-level
details. Though its yellow-orange luster is muted by a past
cleaning, it is nonetheless one of the most impressive survivors to
come on the market in recent memory. The central definition is
extraordinarily sharp, and though a number of hairlines are present
in the fields, there are relatively few abrasions of any
significance. A remarkable and thought-provoking coin.(Registry values: N7079)
