1859-S AU 50 PCGS. The low-production (7,000 pieces) 1859-S eagle is a rarity in both absolute terms and also from a condition perspective. The few known pieces most often show extensive wear, with VF and low-end XF pieces being typical. Examples grading as high as AU can be considered extremely rare and no uncirculated coins are reported. The specimen offered here is well struck in the centers and retains considerable mint brilliance.
