Description

1860 Ten Dollar, AU58
Scarce at This Grade Level

1860 $10 AU58 PCGS. Bulging Bun subtype. With the exception of the 1861 issue, all No Motto eagles struck between 1855 and 1866 are scarce-to-rare in any condition, but especially so at the About Uncirculated and finer levels. This near-Mint 1860 ten is scarce, even though a few pieces (nine coins to be exact) were recovered from the S.S. Republic. The present coin does not appear to be a seawater survivor given its attractive, orange-gold coloration. The surfaces are lightly abraded but retain partial mint luster. The strike is sharp. Population: 11 in 58, 11 finer (3/18).(Registry values: N1793)
