Description

1861 Ten Dollar, MS61
Very Scarce in Mint State

1861 $10 MS61 PCGS. Rounded Bun subtype. The 1861 is the only readily collectible ten dollar issue from the 1860s. However, most examples are in circulated grades. Coins with cartwheel luster, such as the present piece, are seldom encountered. This peach-gold ten has surprisingly few marks. The major devices are well struck, though several stars are soft, as usual for the No Motto type. Population: 15 in 61, 12 finer (12/13).
