Description

1861 Ten Dollar, MS63+
Condition Census Example

1861 $10 MS63+ NGC. Bulging Bun subtype. This is the sole MS63+ example of the 1861 eagle certified by NGC and is the fourth-finest in the combined population behind only an MS64 NGC, an MS64+ PCGS, and an MS66 PCGS (6/13). Boldly defined at the interiors, this piece also enjoys a quality strike through much of the obverse stars. Rolling apricot-gold luster has just a hint of over-patina, and while the portrait shows abrasions on the chin and neck with wispy flaws to its left, the all-around eye appeal is strong for the grade, the reverse, as often seen, appearing to be of a higher grade when taken on its own.(Registry values: N1)
