1861-S Eagle, Eye-Appealing AU50
1861-S $10 AU50 NGC. Large S. The branch mint in San Francisco turned out some 15,500 pieces of the 1861-S, the first Civil War-era issue from the facility; most circulated extensively, however, and Mint State pieces are virtually unknown. This AU50 NGC example offers minimally marked orange-gold surfaces that show grade-consistent wear and good overall eye appeal.From Christopher Bently's Nob Hill Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
