Description
Scarce 1861-S Ten-Dollar, XF 40
1861-S XF 40 NGC. An exceptionally rare issue that is much more elusive than its mintage of 15,500 pieces would suggest. Even in XF, Breen termed the '61-S "prohibitively rare." This piece is softly struck, as usual, and shows a couple of small abrasions on the portrait of Liberty with very few seen elsewhere. Rich coppery patina encircles the devices.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2648, PCGS# 8634, GSID# 9460)
