    Description

    1862 Liberty Ten, AU58
Tied for Second Finest at PCGS

1862 $10 AU58 PCGS. Philadelphia mintages of Liberty eagles dwindled during the Civil War, from a high of 113,164 coins in 1861 to a low of 1,218 coins in 1863. The 1862 had a total production of 10,960 coins, and an extremely low survival rate due to hoarding activities in the North and the South. This impressive piece is tied for the second finest that PCGS has certified. Both sides of this rich orange-gold example has pleasing surfaces with a small mark near star 2 and another over the eagle's head. Otherwise, the surfaces are essentially pristine and problem free. A fully lustrous and highly attractive coin for the connoisseur. Population: 7 in 58, 1 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 2649, PCGS# 8635)

    Weight: 16.72 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
