Not Sold Description
1865-S 865 Over Inverted 186 XF 40 ANACS. A very interesting "overdate" that has the first three digits of the date logotype punched upside down in the exergual area. While not a unique occurrence, such upside down punches are rarely encountered. The inverted date is very scarce, but actually not as infrequently seen as the normal date. Normally only seen in Fine or Very Fine condition, this piece is far above average and is, in fact, one of the better pieces known. Softly struck, as usual, the surfaces show an even reddish patina and only a couple of minor marks above the eagle. Trends $6,350 in XF 40.
