Impressive AU 1865-S Normal Date Eagle
1865-S $10 AU50 NGC. Normal Date. Breen-6947. This is the normal obverse with a doubled reverse, although all of the doubling on the reverse of this example is machine doubling. Walter Breen claimed the reverse is doubled, although he did not say doubled die. Either all or nearly all examples have machine doubling on the reverse, or there are two different reverse dies involved. This is an extremely important opportunity to acquire this issue, one that is seldom seen above VF grades. It is a lovely example medium yellow-gold color and traces of lighter yellow luster.
