Seldom-Seen Issue
1867-S $10 AU50 NGC. Number of 1867-S eagles struck: 9,000.
Number surviving in Uncirculated: 0. NGC shows three submissions in
AU58 as the finest, and PCGS three in AU55 as the finest. This AU50
NGC example should be carefully considered among the Western gold
specialists, as examples even at this grade level seldom appear.
Scattered marks do not defeat the eye appeal on this orange-reddish
example. It is curious to compare the tiny S mintmark with the
gigantic ones of a decade or so earlier. Census: 6 in 50, 11 finer
