Description

1868 $10 AU55 NGC. The postwar eagles of the 1860s, such as the present piece, are clearly more common (due to somewhat higher mintages) than the coins minted during the Civil War, but few of them were saved. The current AU55 example shows red-gold patina, along with well struck design elements. Some minute marks, typical of a lightly circulated coin, are noted over both sides. Census: 20 in 55, 22 finer (5/09).
