Description

1868 $10 XF45 NGC. Like other Philadelphia issues struck between 1862 and 1873, the 1868 has a low mintage. Just 10,630 pieces were struck, and since the few gold collectors of the day purchased proofs, there are only about 300 survivors, mostly in XF and AU grades. This butter-gold example displays pockets of bright luster, and can be identified by a minor obverse rim knock at 1:30. Housed in a former generation holder.(Registry values: N991)
