Description

1869 Eagle, AU53
1,830 Pieces Struck for Circulation

1869 $10 AU53 NGC. This Philadelphia issue is inherently rare due to its low mintage, and the few survivors are conditionally rare in About Uncirculated and higher grades. Perhaps only 60 to 75 pieces survive in any grade. Because of the few pieces produced, most examples are somewhat prooflike. The present coin shows some evidence of reflective surfaces around the date, stars, and legend. Lightly abraded surfaces are busy with small marks. Medium yellow-gold color is a bit subdued, but nice detail remains. Census: 6 in 53, 16 finer (5/14).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 264R, PCGS# 8655, Greysheet# 9390)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
