Description

Low Mintage 1869 Eagle Rarity, AU58

1869 $10 AU58 NGC. Although less rare than the 1863, the 1869 (1,855 pieces produced) is an elusive Eagle that is just as difficult to locate as the 1864, 1865, and 1867. What's more, this date is a condition rarity, and only three Uncirculated coins are known to the two major grading services (1/02). An obviously important near-Mint representative, this golden-rose example retains ample evidence of a prooflike finish. Sharply defined despite light wear, both sides are expectantly scuffy from a short stint in circulation. The scroll on which IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed is incomplete around IN, a diagnostic feature of business strike 1869 Liberty Eagles.
