Description
Very Rare Uncirculated 1869 Ten Dollar
1869 $10 MS60 PCGS. There are no proof-only Liberty eagle dates, but there are many Philadelphia business strikes with tiny emissions. The 1869 has a mintage of just 1,830 pieces, and only three examples have been certified as Mint State by either PCGS or NGC. The other two coins are a PCGS MS62 and an NGC MS63, and neither have appeared at auction since 1995.The present piece is prooflike, not unexpected given the low mintage. A few faint marks beneath the eagle's left wings determine the grade. Sun-gold overall with splashes of lemon-gold on the right fields. An important opportunity to acquire a Condition Census example that has been off the market for a number of years. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 1 in 60, 1 finer (8/08).(Registry values: N7079)
