Mintmark Placed Left
1869-S $10 AU53 NGC. Two 1869-S eagles in the present sale
are struck from different reverse dies. The upper right serif of
the S mintmark on this example is left of the tip of the arrow
feather, while on the other example in the current sale, the serif
is below the feather tip. Trivial marks are evident on the light
yellow-gold surfaces of this pleasing piece that retains traces of
luster in the protected areas around the devices. NGC Census: 6 in
