Description

PCGS 1869-S MS 60. As with nearly all early With Motto ten-dollar Liberty issues, the '69-S, struck from a mintage of 6,430 coins, is very rare in all grades. This exceptional specimen exhibits distinctive golden-orange color and is particularly sharp in all areas save for the radials of the stars. There is a hint of scuffiness, but few appreciable surface marks. Its overall appearance for the assigned grade is excellent. This is currently the only example certified by either major grading service as uncirculated, although Akers reports the existence of three pieces, one being a gem. We can, unhesitantly, call this one of the finest known examples of this extremely elusive Coronet eagle.
