Choice AU 1869-S Ten Dollar
1869-S AU 55 NGC. Although once overshadowed by the similarly dated and even more elusive P-mint, this difficult issue of just 6,430 coins is scarce in its own right, particularly in AU and better condition. The surfaces are lightly worn with typical details that the grade indicates, being notably soft on the left obverse stars. Both sides are framed in attractive reddish-golden patina and retain much of their original luster. Population: 3 in 55, 2 finer (9/99).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 264S, PCGS# 8656, GSID# 9470)
