    Description

    1870-CC Ten Dollar, VF35
    Classic Carson City Rarity

1870-CC $10 VF35 PCGS. Probably unknown in full mint condition, the 1870-CC eagle remains one of the most highly sought-out and difficult-to-find dates in a series filled with challenges. Doug Winter estimates 45 to 60 pieces exist in all grades. It is a legendary target of Carson City collectors, who eagerly await any appearance of this date in wholesome, original condition.

This example should satisfy the most astute collector. Pleasing reddish-gold color with an occasional hint of mint luster give this rare eagle a distinguished look. The strike is good for a coin of this grade, although some of the stars show flatness either from tired dies or simply from wear. The expected abrasions from normal circulation and transport exist, but none are individually severe or excessive for the VF35 designation -- in fact, there are fewer than often encountered. This is a choice midgrade example of a desirable Carson City issue sure to inspire plenty of attention. Housed in a green insert holder. Population: 9 in 35, 31 finer (11/13).
