    Description

    1871 Ten Dollar, Choice AU
    Low Mintage of 1,790 Coins

1871 $10 AU55 NGC. This rare, low-mintage issue had an original production total of only 1,790 business strikes. Condition is naturally a challenge with this date. Most survivors are VF or XF at best, while AU examples are rare. The fields of this Choice About Uncirculated eagle appear slightly reflective when turned under a light, unsurprising considering that virtually all examples are "first strikes." The device details are complete in all areas. Numerous small and medium-sized abrasions occur across each side. A rare opportunity for the advanced gold collector. Census: 15 in 55, 12 finer (7/19).
From The Poulos Family Collection, Part II. (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 264W, PCGS# 8660)

    Weight: 16.72 grams
