Description

Rare AU53 1871-CC Liberty Ten

1871-CC $10 AU53 NGC. The first-year 1870-CC gets all the glory, but the 1871-CC is also an important Carson City rarity. Just 8,085 pieces were struck, and those remained in circulation since there were no West Coast gold coin collectors until at least the 1890s. NGC and PCGS have each certified examples in grades as low as VG8. The two services have encapsulated a total of three pieces as Mint State, but even advanced collectors can only hope to acquire a nice AU representative, such as the present coin. Copious luster fills the borders and devices, and the sun-gold surfaces are radiant and bear only the expected number of moderate abrasions. An important opportunity for the specialist.(Registry values: N7079)
