    1871-S Liberty Eagle, AU58
    Low-Mintage Gold Rarity
    Tied for Finest Certified

1871-S $10 AU58 NGC. The 1871-S Liberty eagle is a rare date in all grades, and this particular coin is probably one of the finest known to exist from the original mintage of 16,500 pieces. The surfaces show scattered handling marks, particularly in the open left obverse field. Liberty's curls and the eagle show just a hint of wear from brief circulation, and the strike quality is good for this date. There is a small lamination (attached) in the left obverse field which forms a right angle near star 3 across from Liberty's chin and this will identify this coin in the future. A classic condition rarity that is certain to attract considerable attention. Census: 4 in 58, 0 finer (1/18).
