Description
1871-S Ten, XF 40
1871-S XF 40 NGC. An extremely rare S-mint ten with a mintage of only 16,500 pieces. Not only is this an absolute rarity, but it is an important condition rarity as well that is considered "prohibitively rare above VF" by Breen. The coin has some rich, reddish-golden toning in the fields, and the striking details are generally well brought up. There is one distinctive mark, that being a small milling mark in the right reverse field above the eagle.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 264Y, PCGS# 8662, GSID# 9474)
