    1872-CC Ten Dollar, Fine 15
    Scarce, Low-Mintage Issue

1872-CC $10 Fine 15 NGC. Variety 1-B. The more available of the two known die marriages, but any 1872-CC eagle is rare due to a mintage of just 4,600 pieces, none of which were saved for numismatic reasons until the 20th century. NGC has yet to certify any examples above AU55. The present Choice Fine example displays the expected level of wear on Liberty's hair and the eagle's wings, but the shield lines are distinct. Marks are few and unimportant given its extent in circulation, though for pedigree purposes we note a faded pinscratch behind the hairbun.
