Description

Condition Census 1873-CC Eagle, AU53

1873-CC $10 AU53 NGC. With a mintage of just 4,543 pieces, the 1873-CC is one of the most elusive Carson City products across all grades and is unknown in Mint State. This briefly circulated canary-yellow coin offers a fleeting opportunity to acquire a Condition Census-worthy representative. The canary-yellow surfaces retain peripheral luster on the obverse and nearly intact luster is noted on the reverse. Light wear is present on Liberty's hair and the eagle's neck, but aside from a handful of wispy abrasions in the fields, neither side shows heavy or distracting marks. Slight striking softness on the highpoints and select peripheral elements is standard for this issue. NGC and PCGS have graded just five pieces in AU53 combined and have certified just two finer examples between them, both graded AU55 (6/07).(Registry values: N7079)
