Description

1873-CC Liberty Ten, AU53
Extremely Rare in Finer Grades

1873-CC $10 AU53 PCGS. Variety 2-A. The 1873-CC Liberty eagle has a small reported mintage of 4,543 pieces. The entire mintage was released into circulation near the time of issue and no examples were saved by contemporary collectors. As a result, the surviving population numbers only 55-65 examples in all grades and the 1873-CC is unknown in Mint State.

The present coin is an attractive AU53 specimen with vivid orange-gold surfaces that retain much original mint luster. The well-detailed design elements show a touch of wear on the high points and the fields exhibit the expected number of minor abrasions for the grade. Population: 2 in 53, 2 finer (2/14).
From the Collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.(Registry values: N7079)
