Description

1873-CC Ten Dollar, XF45
Only 60 to 80 Pieces Known

1873-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. Although the 1870-CC is the best known Carson City rarity of the ten dollar denomination, all other CC-mint issues from the 1870s are very rare, except for the 1874-CC, which is merely rare. The 1873-CC had a slender production of 4,543 pieces, less than that of the 1870-CC, and the issue is unknown in grades above AU58. The present piece has bright and glossy yellow-gold surfaces. The strike is good if not quite sharp, and remaining luster is extensive for the grade. The fields are moderately abraded, however, no marks require individual mention. A significant opportunity for the Carson City specialist. Population: 12 in 45, 20 finer (5/22).
