Conditionally Rare 1873-S Eagle, About Uncirculated
1873-S $10 AU50 PCGS. Garrett and Guth (2006) state that the 1873-S, with a mintage of only 12,000 pieces, is an underrated issue. About Uncirculated examples are rare, and PCGS reports just four pieces at the AU50 level, with nine finer (8/08). Myriad abrasions barely affect the impressive luster that graces both sides. A handsome, crisply struck example with lovely lemon-yellow patina.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2656, PCGS# 8668, GSID# 9478)
