Almost Uncirculated 1874-S Eagle
1874-S $10 AU50 NGC. The 1874-S is very scarce in the absolute sense as well as a condition rarity with AU coins very elusive. Only 10,000 pieces were struck of this issue and Breen notes that it is "prohibitively rare above VF." The devices are bluntly struck, as usual, with deep, original, reddish tinged surfaces. In spite of the deep, original color, the fields are bright and under a light there is a noticeable semi-prooflike glimmer. An important, high grade survivor of this scarce S-mint issue.
