Description

1876 Eagle, AU55
Low-Mintage Date
One of the Top-Rated Examples

1876 $10 AU55 NGC. CAC. Only 687 business strikes were produced of this low-mintage rarity, and survivors are typically found in grades of Extremely Fine into the lower ranges of AU; especially AU50. At the current grade level of AU55, this example becomes one of the top-rated representatives of this Philadelphia Mint date, and one of just seven Choice AU coins at PCGS and NGC combined. Light orange-gold central toning yields to deeper peach and rose-gold peripheral accents. The surfaces are moderately marked and lightly worn on both sides. Census: 4 in 55, 5 finer (3/14).
