Description
1876-CC Eagle, AU50
Minimally Marked Light-Gold Surfaces
1876-CC $10 AU50 NGC. Winter 1-A. It understandably required
only a single die pair to strike the 4,696 coins produced of this
issue. Despite the small mintage, the 1876-CC survives to an
abnormally large percentage approaching 4% of those pieces,
according to Carson City coinage researcher-dealer Rusty Goe. The
ample survival is likely due to the Centennial date, although other
unknown factors may also be at play. Light yellow-gold surfaces
boast generous remaining luster and a smattering of light field
chatter, but there are no major marks. The About Uncirculated
surfaces retain a light outline of red around the devices. This is
an elusive Carson City issue in this grade and seldom seen finer.
