Decent 1876-CC Ten Dollar1876-CC $10 AU50 NGC. Winter 1-A, the only known dies. The 1876-CC eagle is scarce in all grades, and most known examples are in the Very Fine to Extra Fine grade range. AU specimens are considerably more challenging, and Uncirculated examples are virtually unknown. Unfortunately, the typical 1876-CC survivor also has obtrusive and deep abrasions on the surfaces, and is generally poor in luster.
The AU example presented in this lot does have a scattering of light abrasions, but none of worthy of individual mention. The honey-gold surfaces display traces of orange and light red, and exhibit traces of luster in some of the recessed areas. All in all, a better-than-average Carson city representative. Census: 10 in 50, 22 finer (11/06).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 54UL, PCGS# 8675)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
