Description

1876-CC Eagle, AU53 CAC
Winter 1-A

1876-CC $10 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A, the only dies. The single die pair identified for 1876-CC eagles produced 4,696 coins in 1876. Apricot-gold surfaces retain considerable luster and inconsequential marks that are consistent with the grade. The soft hair details below the coronet are typical of most, if not all, 1876-CC eagles. This exceptional example is finer than most others. No Mint State examples are known, and the combined PCGS and NGC population includes just 6 examples in AU58, 13 in AU55, 21 in AU53, and 22 in AU50. The majority of those are NGC certified, and PCGS-certified examples are seldom encountered. Population: 9 in 53, 4 finer (11/24).
