Description

1876-CC Liberty Ten, AU55
Winter 1-A, the Only Dies

1876-CC $10 AU55 PCGS. Winter 1-A. With a mintage of just 4,696 coins, it is unsurprising that a single die pair is identified for the 1876-CC eagles. Like most surviving examples, this Choice AU representative has indistinct hair details below the coronet. Reflective fields exhibit scattered handling marks that are expected since these coins were clearly used in Nevada commerce as the XF40 average certified grade suggests. PCGS and NGC combined have assigned numerical grades to 215 submissions over 39 years. CAC has not graded an example. There has never been a Mint State example certified at either service, with only six submissions graded AU58. Just 14 other submissions at the two grading services equal this example. Population: 3 in 55, 3 finer (7/25).(Registry values: N7079)
