1877-CC $10 AU50 PCGS. Winter 1-A....
Description
1877-CC Ten Dollar, AU50
Rare Carson City Issue
1877-CC $10 AU50 PCGS. Winter 1-A. The 1877 Carson City
branch mint Liberty Head eagle is a rare issue, with only 3,332
coins struck. The strike of this date is invariably soft,
especially in the centers with the hair curls surrounding the ear,
along with the reverse shield lines and eagle's feathers. This coin
has central weakness in the strike, although the portrait facial
design elements are well-formed. The Winter 1-A die pairing of this
specimen is the variety usually seen, with the mintmark nearly
touching the lowest arrow feather. One obverse working die was used
to strike the 1877-CC ten dollar, and two reverse dies were
used. This representative of the 1877-CC eagle is a charming coin, predominantly wheat gold, with rich orange gold luster in sheltered areas of the surfaces. Only light wear on the high points with small contact marks consistent for the grade. The eye appeal is lovely, a wonderful example of the issue.
