Description
1878-CC Eagle, AU53 CAC
Excellent Low-Mintage Rarity
1878-CC $10 AU53 NGC. CAC. Winter 1-A. With a very low
mintage of 3,244 Liberty Head ten dollar coins from the Carson City
branch mint in 1878, this is the third rarest date of the Carson
City Mint eagle series, always being highly sought-after in all
grades by collectors of this popular design type. Just one set of
working dies was needed for the date and mintmark. Attractive
wheat-gold toning with olive highlights gives lovely eye appeal.
Even wear on the high points with luster at the borders and on the
portrait. Only small and scattered marks are seen on the surfaces,
none of which are distracting. This example has a good strike with
nicely detailed design elements for Miss Liberty and the eagle. The
overall quality and presentation of this specimen justifiably earns
CAC endorsement. NGC Census: 10 in 53, 16 finer (9/25). CAC: 3 in
53, 4 finer (9/25).(Registry values: N7079)From The Texas Republic Ranch Collection.
