Description

1878-CC Eagle, VF35
CAC Approved

1878-CC $10 VF35 PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A. The only known dies for the small mintage of 3,244 eagles at Carson City in 1878, the second lowest eagle mintage at that branch of the U.S. Mint. While the 1877-CC was only 88 examples higher, just the 1879-CC with a mintage of 1,762 coins was lower. This example is moderately worn as the VF35 grade suggests, but retains the eye appeal of a higher grade. The copper-gold surfaces are exquisite with splashes of pale reddish-orange toning on each side. Population: 8 in 35, 49 finer. CAC: 2 in 35, 7 finer (12/24).(Registry values: N2998)
